After Business College, I began my career in the financial services with a Canadian Chartered Bank where I quickly learned that there is no such thing as "Banker's hours". During my 16 year career I held various positions, from Teller to the Assistant Manager Commercial Lending. Banking proved to be a great experience that continues to benefit me in the investment industry. In 1991 I made the decision to leave the bank environment and branch out.
My next venture was to take on a role as the Saskatchewan Provincial Regional Representative for Financial Services Company (FINSCO), an investment firm that offered group retirement savings programs for national organizations. A few years later, FINSCO was acquired by Midland Walwyn. I was one of four representatives across Canada to be offered the opportunity to become an Investment Advisor upon obtaining the requisite Canadian Securities Courses. At this point, I also obtained my Canadian Financial Planning designation in order to offer a more complete range of services to my clients.
"Blue Chip Thinking" was going very well with Midland Walwyn. However, five years later they were acquired by Merrill Lynch Canada, which in turn was bought by CIBC Wood Gundy. This turmoil prompted my move to the Credit Union brokerage arm, and to further expand my range of services by taking insurance courses to address clients estate and financial planning needs.
Several years later, I was offered the opportunity to join Research Capital Corporation as they chose to expand to Saskatchewan by setting up a Branch in Regina. As a founding member of this Branch I was attracted to Research Capital's independence, entrepreneurial spirit, and client first approach to the Investment Industry.
The past 20 plus years have offered me the opportunity to build a growing business centered on strong client relationships. Despite the workplace transitions my client relationships have continued to expand with referrals coming from existing clients that have enabled me to serve their friends and family members. I continue to focus on putting my clients first and looking for new solutions to their financial needs.
